Company founder Stephen Payson Shaw recalls, I started in web design with nonprofit clients in October 1996, and the business grew from there. Today we have approximately 300 clients of all sizes. Shaw started a business at home, and in 2009 it moved to its current location on 32 Main Street, East Haddam. We've always in East Haddam, Shaw said. but we have clients from all over Connecticut, New England, and nationwide. They appreciate personal attention and hometown attitude that we can give them the company hired four designers., three sales representatives and three part-time administrative staff. The company is approaching half a million dollars in annual sales. All the work done here in Connecticut, with no outsourcing to other countries. Every time we need help, we get it right away telling the staff of Jubilee House (www.jubileehouse.org) in Hartford, one of WhoIsTheOldGuy's clients. They worked with us to get the design right, and we re very pleased with the results. When I started my consulting practice, says Jennifer Eifrig from Musevue360 (www.musevue360.com), another client, the first thing I do is call WhoIsTheOldGuy.

The business was named Shaw's great-great grandfather of Edward Payson Shaw, who appears in the logo of the company. The elder Mr. Shaw owned the first business at age 16, and went on to have many other operations, including an electric trolley line in northeastern Massachusetts. He also served as Treasurer of the State of Massachusetts. He's always been an inspiration to me, says Stephen Shaw, who has been interested in the genealogy of the family since she was a teenager. We share the same middle name and the same commitment to customer service.
